Enter your Webster & Bennett serial number to find the correct service manual for your machine.
Enter the number from your machine's serial plate — just the machine number is fine (e.g. 5834). It's on the left-hand side of the cross rail. Don't know your serial? Read our identification guide.
We couldn't parse that serial number.
Try entering just the machine number — the digits before the dash (e.g. 5834). If you're still having trouble, call us at +1-847-427-9360.
The serial number on a W&B machine has two parts separated by a dash or slash.
The machine number (left of the dash) places your machine in a series. Use that series to find the right manual. The suffix is important when ordering parts — always include it.
Where to find it: The serial number plate is on the left-hand side of the cross rail, recessed above the lower way surface. If the stamp is worn down, try removing the center cap on the turret — it may also be stamped underneath. Some machines also have it on a plate or plaque attached to the machine.
| Machine # Range | Series | Era | Key Feature |
|---|---|---|---|
| Up to ~5021 | Pre-DH / D | Pre-1960s | Older design; significant variation |
| 5022 – 5232 | Early DH | ~Late 1950s–Early 1960s | Thin Taylor clutch plates; old-type spring |
| 5233 – 5441 | Series II DH | ~Mid 1960s | Splined/thicker clutch plates |
| 5442 – 6561 | M / EM | ~Mid 1960s–1970s | Spur-drive clutch; new-type spring |
| 6562 and above | V / EV / R | ~1970s–1990s | Final production; always No.6 clutch |
At serial numbers near a series boundary (±5), physical inspection or confirmation from W&B UK may be needed to determine the exact series.
